#TornadoGiveaway – Rudraksha – When Gods Came Calling

Name of the Book : RUDRAKSHA: WHEN GODS CAME CALLING

Editor: Sutapa Basu

Read a review:

Sundari Venkatraman
The Anthology:

Rudraksha: When Gods Came Calling is an attempt to bring together tales from across the vast length and breadth of India, a land that is steeped in mythology. It is about gods and goddesses, mythical creatures, ancient folklore and tales that abound in every village.
Some of these are oft-heard stories. Some have seldom gone around. Some are spoofs. Some are parodies. They walk the ancient India or sound the chimes of modern India. From the celestial love of Shiva-Parvati, to the raging avatar of Kalki, from myths and legends of Brahmaputra to the stories of the Mahabharata, Rudraksha has it all.
And there is more. Reading spoofs on present day icons provide high entertainment as do the satirical twists parodying modern issues; all through the perspective of mythology.
This mélange of mythological tales is sure to leave you spellbound with anticipation even as ancient sagas jump out of the pages through modern retelling. They bind the real world with surreal myths and bring to you an anthology that is unique and entertaining.

About The Publisher

Readomania

India has traditionally been the land of storytellers and a lot of us have an inherent skill of creating good plots, good stories and good narrations. With a little encouragement and support, many more authors will be widely read and attain a place in the sun. This is the essence of Readomania—an initiative that nurtures emerging stars of the literary world. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Readomania is the talent hunt in fiction. It goes a step beyond by not just identifying the talent but also nurturing it and showcasing it to the world. In the process, we have created a powerhouse of content online.

Readomania is a publishing platform, with online and offline presence, for good writing; a place to share stories and poems; a place to explore your creative talent. The web platform is a unique place for people who love reading and writing. As authors, one can register, or login through social media sites and upload their work, which then gets reviewed. The review process includes copy and developmental editing, improving the plot, narration or word choices. If authors are promising but need aids in language enhancement or storytelling capabilities, we work with them to improve their work. This hand-holding and personalised attention is what makes us unique. We stand out in the crowd because we will walk the talk to make an author’s work readable. Finally the work is published on the site. Once published, people can read it for free, share it on social media, email it, rate it, vote for it and even leave their feedback.

This helps the author get critical feedback to improve their writing as well as encouragement to write more. We publish the best of the authors in our anthologies, projects and finally graduate them to the status of solo authors.

The site also has a lot in store for the reader. Since the content is edited and curated, readers get quality reads on a platter. The variety on Readomania is impressively vast; we have romance, emotions, thrills, travel, humour and drama. You will find stories that touch your heart, stories that inspire you, stories that make you laugh and stories that make you cry.

Accessing Readomania makes for a perfect break of fifteen minutes from your daily grind. Read a story and unwind. Take a break, read something nice, write something beautiful.

Book Review and Author Interview – Trouble Has A New Name by Adite Banerjie

Trouble Has A New Name
by Adite Banerjie

Review:

Dumping someone over a text message? I was already rooting for our sensitive yet gutsy heroine Rayna Dutt and planning to kill Sid on the first page. Adite Banerjie has a knack of doing this very well – making a reader build relationships with the characters from the very beginning. All the characters feel so real, so believable with some gray shades apparent in them. Life-like. Whether it be gutsy-yet-an-emotional-wreck Rayna, Kind-yet-commitment-phobic Neel or the infuriating-yet-sweet Agra Aunty! Would love to hear the story behind AA’s name, Adite!

Emerald Island took my breath away. So did the villas accompanying the Nirvana. The star-spangled sky and the silvery beaches, the orchids colouring up the white-and-gold wedding decor, the author has made the Andaman Islands come real in front of me. And to think she has never visited the island herself! She’s a hell of a researcher and a magician with her words.

The thing that moved me most about the book though were the emotions packed in 187 pages. Never a dull moment in this book. Right from page 1 where Rayna has to run to catch her flight till the epilogue (especially the epilogue :D), I have been on a roller coaster ride of emotions. Sometimes laughing at the verbal sparring between Rayna and Neel, sometimes rolling on the floor at Agra aunty’s antics, sometimes with butterflies in my stomach as Neel touches Rayna so and sometimes my heart breaking along with Rayna’s, this book made me live a thousand emotions in a span of 4 hours. Yes, that’s how long it took me to read it from cover-to-cover!

I had a chance to chat up with Adite Banerjie after reading ‘Trouble’ and here’s the conversation:

Me:  Your books are always so well edited. Never a dull moment. How many revisions do you put your MS through?

Adite: Thanks Dola for that huge compliment. I write in burst of three to four chapters at a time. I keep tweaking and editing them as I go along. Once I get feedback from the editor, it goes through another round of editing. I don’t believe in doing complete rewrites of the full book as it is too daunting. But rather, write three new chapters, go back and revise the earlier ones and then tweak the ones that follow and so on. It might sound a bit crazy…but  that’s the way I work! 🙂

Me: How did you come up with such an interesting title for your book?

Adite: The credit for the title goes to the Harlequin Team. We were throwing around words like Trouble, Paradise Island and Wedding but it all sounded so ho-hum. And then the Marketing Team suggested Trouble Has a New Name. And it was just perfect!

Me: Which character did you have the most fun writing?

Adite: It has to be Agra Aunty. She is loud, generally irritating and very conservative but has a fun side to her as well. I had enormous fun writing the “Sangeet” scene and the Truth or Dare game scene in which AA plays a stellar role. 🙂

Me:  Are you planning to stick to the romance genre? Do you feel that since writing in this category is considered ‘mush’, it is looked down upon?

Adite: I have two more books to finish for Harlequin — and both are M&Bs. So naturally they will be romance. I haven’t planned anything after that. As for romance being considered mush, that is sadly true…Frankly, I enjoy reading romances as much as any other genre. So I don’t feel any qualms about writing them.

Me: Please tell us about your next writing project(s).

Adite: I am currently working on Book 3, a romantic-thriller set in London, Delhi and Rajasthan. The working title is No Safe Zone. Book 4 will be another rom-com and in it I plan to tell the story of Chris and Milee (who have been introduced in Trouble Has a New Name).
It was fun answering your questions, Dola. Thank you for hosting me on your site!  🙂

Thank you, Adite for answering my questions on such short notice for my readers. You’re a darling!

I recommend this book to all romance lovers. Believe me, you’ll thank me for it later! 😀

‘Trouble’ deserves no less than 5 stars! Check it out below and scroll to the bottom of the post to take part in a 10$ Amazon Gift Card giveaway! Enjoy!

Marlo Croft, canine behaviorist at the Dog Haven Sanctuary in Halo Peak, Washington, has her life neatly organized. The trauma of her past is well buried, her emotions tamped down, and rehabilitating and rehoming damaged and unwanted dogs gives her the focused, contained life that makes her feel secure.

The arrival of a new rescue dog, Justice, also brings the unwelcome distraction of a handsome stranger who is to shadow Marlo and Justice through the dog’s rehabilitation.

Suffering guilt over the death of his wife, New Zealander Adam Guildford’s short contract in the US to research dog fighting is what he hopes will pull him out of the limbo he has floundered in for the past four years. He arrives prepared to tackle the emotional and behavioral needs of the rescued dogs, but completely unprepared for the way his presence unnerves Marlo and awakens his own dormant feelings.

As they start to gain Justice’s trust, Marlo loosens her grip on her inner fears and the simmering attraction between her and Adam heats up. Adam works carefully to dismantle the emotional barricades Marlo erected, until one day he unwittingly delivers the horror from Marlo’s past straight to her doorstep, an action that tears the three of them apart.

Things go sideways for Caycee when she uncovers a lead that saves the Omega Killer’s latest victim. Rather than working the system and making nice with her pompous boss, sparks fly and she gets into an altercation with the lead Special Agent on the case, resulting in a transfer to another assignment.

Caycee finds herself transferred to an FBI interrogation facility where she assesses the most dangerous of criminals in custody. She struggles to get over the loss of her dream job, but her new boss, handsome Special Agent Gil Graham, may soften the blow. Sparks, of a different variety, fly between the Special Agent and his new Analyst, as they work together to crack the most difficult cases.

Just when Caycee’s wounds are healing from her expulsion on the Omega Killer team, she is dragged back into the thick of it. Caycee and her new team are front and center, focused on an interview of a bombing suspect, when Omega comes looking for revenge.
